There is no way to build a future if you don’t keep track of the present. Archiving has become a major part of my storytelling research and work.
Many photos I make never see public eyes because I anticipate their future meaning. Today is one of those days it means something bigger. I am so proud to share that two of my images will be preserved in the Pennsylvania State Archives/Records thanks to the One Lens PA effort by First Lady Frances Wolf and the PA Council on the Arts. Both are on Governor Tom Wolf’s Flickr page.
SUGAR CANE WATERWAYS (10.20.2020)
Mrs. Karen Warrington of North Philadelphia tells her story to me via Zoom which was composed as a filmic contact sheet.
This image is part of an ongoing effort to tell the story of Penn’s Landing with @delawareriverwaterfront. Both the format and casting was inspired by Little Giant Creative and several community partners while managed with PennPraxis at the Weitzman School of Design.
This past year has not been easy but moments like these make me see how darkness shapes the light. Thank you to all who made this happen even before the entire story is finished being told.
until then,
