L.A.-Focused Series from @BlackUrbanism On View
I am beyond thrilled to announce that, at the invitation of the Department of Urban Design and Planning at University of Washington’s College of the Built Environment and the BE(Art)&Urbanism Initiative, over a dozen images from my Black Urbanism project will be displayed for Black History Month in the Gould Gallery starting on February 6th.
The images are focused on the first year of work in Los Angeles, which I launched on Black History Month last year alongside my fellow artist and younger brother Gabriel Miller. This opportunity is the best kind of affirmation of the resonance of our passion project.
Here are a few of the sample images that will be displayed (1: “Brothas of the Sun”; 2: “Higher Learning”; 3: “Low”) at 32x21.
The exhibit will be in conjunction with Seattle-based artist Jessica Rycheal’s Everyday Black series and I am excited that we will be in conversation at a public lecture.
I will post more images of the space itself after the event launch (along with sappy reflections)! Follow me on social media to see live footage @MatthewJordanMiller.
